The Great Lakes Valley Conference will be well-represented this week at the NCAA Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Louisville, Ky. The festival, which features national championship competition for men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis, softball, and women's lacrosse, takes place May 15-19 at a number of venues and is being co-hosted by our very own Bellarmine University. Representing the GLVC this week is Drury's men's and women's tennis teams along with senior women's golfer Katrina Choate, the Indianapolis men's and women's golf teams, Lewis women's tennis, Northern Kentucky men's tennis, and Saint Joseph's softball.

In the first of three NCAA Baseball Midwest Regional games Friday, Lewis was eliminated 9-5 by Grand Valley State. Indianapolis topped Wayne State 8-5 in the day's second contest, while Rockhurst faces Northern Kentucky in the nightcap at 6 p.m. EDT. Live stats can be found by clicking here.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Friday that 11 teams have been named recipients of the GLVC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Sportsmanship Award for the spring season. The 11 squads, which include the Bellarmine men’s tennis and outdoor track and field teams, Missouri-St. Louis men’s and women’s golf squads, Northern Kentucky men’s golf and baseball teams, Quincy’s men’s tennis team, Southern Indiana’s women’s tennis team, UW-Parkside’s softball and men’s outdoor track and field teams, and the William Jewell outdoor track and field squad, were selected by their peers as best displaying ‘Good Sportsmanship’ during the 2011-12 spring season. This is the first time in the history of the award that three sports have garnered ties in the voting process.

Indianapolis, Northern Kentucky and Rockhurst all garnered opening-round wins at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Thursday. The Greyhounds defeated conference foe Lewis, while the Norse and Hawks topped GLIAC leaders Wayne State and Grand Valley State, respectively.

INDIANAPOLIS- The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2012 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A total of 21 GLVC student-athletes have earned the right to compete in the Championships that will be hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo. on May 24-26, including six women and 15 male participants. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching the NCAA automatic and provisional standards established for each event.

The GLVC, however, was able to squeeze out one more day's worth of coverage as University of Indianapolis junior pitcher Phil Wheeler's no-hitter against Rockhurst at the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament on Saturday, May 12, has made SportsCenter's Top-10 Plays of the weekend, joining two other college no-hitters at the No. 3 spot.

INDIANAPOLIS – Four Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball teams were among the six squads selected late Sunday night to the 2012 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Midwest Regional. The University of Indianapolis, which earned the GLVC Championship Sunday afternoon, is the No. 1 seed in the region, followed by No. 4 Northern Kentucky University, No. 5 Rockhurst University, and No. 6 Lewis University.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Indianapolis has captured the 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, following a 4-3 victory over Northern Kentucky University at Bosse Field in Evansville, Ind., Sunday. The top-seeded Greyhounds, who won their fifth GLVC baseball crown and first since 2001, earned the GLVC’s automatic bid to NCAA Regional action.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ken. – Brittnie Boerema (Manhattan, Ill., Lincoln-Way Central) went two for three with two doubles and three RBIs to help the Saint Joseph’s College softball team to a 5-3 victory over Northern Kentucky University at the NCAA Midwest Super Regional. The victory clinches the best of three series as SJC make its first ever appearance in the College World Series.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ken. – The second time through the order lifted the Saint Joseph’s College softball team to a 2-1 upset victory over Northern Kentucky University in the opening game of NCAA Midwest Regional. SJC manufactured two runs in the top of the fourth and through pitching and defense took the edge in the three-game series.

EVANSVILLE, Ind.– The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Wednesday that Kentucky Wesleyan College senior centerfielder Jordan White has been named the 2012 GLVC Player of the Year for baseball. White was selected by the conference coaches and recognized for his efforts at an awards banquet that preceded the 2012 GLVC Baseball Championship Tournament, which begins on Thursday in Evansville, Ind. In addition to White, University of Indianapolis’ Donovan Drake and Gary Vaught were named the GLVC Pitcher and Coach of the Year, respectively, while Maryville redshirt freshman outfielder Andrew Naegeli was tabbed as the league’s Freshman of the Year. A total of 67 student-athletes from both the GLVC East and West Divisions were also recognized as All-Conference honorees.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis has advanced to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships after securing fourth place at the NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Regional this past Wednesday at the Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo. A total of 19 GLVC players earned 33 All-Midwest Region honors, including UIndy’s Casey Williamson and Jennifer DeMotte adding to their GLVC Player and Pitcher of the Year honors as the Daktronics Midwest Regional Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.

FINDLAY, Ohio - The University of Indianapolis women's golf team has advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships following an East Super Regional win this past Tuesday. The Greyhounds earned a 16-stroke victory over Grand Valley State with a winning 54-hole score of 911 (300-307-304) at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. Drury's Katrina Choate, who finished second at 220 (71-70-79), also advanced to the NCAA Championships where she will compete as an individual.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis has secured the eighth and final spot in this week’s 2012 Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, which takes place May 10-13 at both Bosse Field and USI Field in Evansville, Ind. With a two-out, bases loaded, two-run single to left centerfield, sophomore Taylor Holman gave the Tritons a 2-1 victory over Missouri S&T on Tuesday and their first bid to the conference’s postseason tournament since 2004. The seven other league squads that make up the eight-team field were announced Sunday, led by top seed and GLVC East Division Champion, Indianapolis (26-8). The Greyhounds will be joined by No. 2 seed Northern Kentucky (25-11), No. 3 Missouri S&T (20-10), No. 4 Rockhurst (20-11), No. 5 Quincy (19-12), No. 6 Missouri-St. Louis (20-14), No. 7 Drury (21-15), and No. 8 Lewis (21-15).
